EL104 - Teaching and Organizing a Virtual Learning Environment

This course will provide you with basic information to teach in a virtual learning environment and understand the importance of organizing course content. You will learn about the important role technology tools play in teaching and organizing an online course. You will also learn the difference between synchronous and asynchronous learning. As the components of each are discussed, you will further identify appropriate methods, develop guidelines, organize content, and establish a pattern of teaching for each method.


Module 1: Technology Tools

  • Recognize the importance of technology tools in the teaching process.
  • Identify the importance of matching appropriate tool function with appropriate teaching technique.
  • Examine specific functions of a technology tool to facilitate good teaching.

  • Recognize the importance of using guidelines to establish instructor and student expectations.

  • Implement a variety of strategies to encourage student engagement.
  • Use student feedback to improve the facilitation process.

Module 4: Online Course Content Transfer

  • Compare and contrast learning methods for an online environment.
  • Recognize strategies for modifying course content for online delivery.
  • Identify effective engagement techniques that correspond with content.
  • Implement effective teaching methods in an online environment.
